Since last month, I have been fighting with my sinuses. Every October, my allergies flare up. Which means my sinuses are constantly plugged. And that tends to lead to sinus infections. I’ve been lucky to avoid the major infections so far. But I’m still dealing with a lot of sinus headaches. Stuffiness. And when my allergies really flare up, I am so miserable that it’s hard to concentrate on much of anything.
I’ve decided to break down and get a neti pot. Although, I found a squirt bottle that does the same thing as a neti pot and includes the packets with salt and baking soda in them. I tried it once. I know I need to do it more than that, but I’m having a really hard time getting over the feeling of water in my sinus cavity. It just freaks me out.
I’m working on that. If you have any other tips on how I can reduce inflammation (once they’re irritated, your sinuses tend to inflame easier) and clear things out, I’m all ears. Or nostrils.

I actually recently got the bottle instead of the pot (which I told you I used before). I have been the exact same way! I have had sinus migraines almost daily with that comes the inability to sleep! I completely understand how you feel! I hope that you get to feeling better soon!
One thing that does work great, but not always, is Grape Fruit Seed Extract. When you use it you need to have a strong powered juice. I usually use Cranberry Juice or Concorde Grape juice. It says that you should use 2 teaspoons per 8 ounces of juice; however, for me that was way too strong and made me very sick. I use about 8 drops per 8 ounces of juice. This stuff does not taste well, so be sure that you do not use too many drops or else it will be very hard to drink. It is helps to empy your mucus membranes so if you drink too much of it, it will make you feel like you have a severe cold. Not fun at all! I did it my first time! I could only find the drops at my local health food store. They are also pretty cheap!
Another thing to try (which tastes not so great as well) is 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with 8 ounces of water. You can delute it more too, but this is something that you will want to sip on througout the day not drink at once. It does seem to work, I just prefer to use the drops instead because if you only use a few drops in your juice you will not even taste it.

I’ve never heard of using grapefruit seed extract. But I do have some apple cider vinegar on hand. I just want to get my sinuses cleared out – I haven’t been able to breathe normally in months and months. I think it’ll be easier if I can clear them, then use the neti-like stuff to keep them clear.
