constant churning

The Child has reached a stage of constant movement. Seriously. He is rarely still. And this morning, for the first time, his kicking WOKE me up. Between that and his hiccups, I think it’s going to be a long 9 1/2 weeks. Oi. And he has perfected the judo chops that actually make me nauseous for a moment. Oh, the joys. I wish I had a video camera hookup so i could tell what the hell he’s doing in there. The movement is still pretty amazing, but it’s also bordering on annoying. Especially when he has those darn hiccups, which I think he’s already had three times this week.

Well, at least the hot weather broke. I might actually get some sleep tonight. If Buddy lets me, that is. He’s trying to prepare me for feedings every two hours, I just know it. And to that, I say STOP IT or I’ll only feed you once a day! (Do I have to say I’m kidding?)

Tomorrow I have to go in for a 3 hour glucose test. They want me to fast for 8 hours. Who in their right mind asks a pregnant woman to fast, and then expects her to go another 3 1/2 hours without eating while they poke her FOUR times to draw blood? What sadistic person thought that one up? Probably a man, because he’ll never have to go through it. Bastards.

So, I’m beginning to think that Thanksgiving can’t come soon enough. But, I might just manage to survive if the heat stays gone. I hope?

waddle i do

Yes, it’s here: the pregnant waddle. I tried to avoid it, but I can no longer put off the inevitable. I walk funny.

Only 9 1/2 weeks to go. Hey, wouldn’t that make a great movie title?  wink

I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on this baby. Somebody stop me before it’s too late! Actually, it would probably be a great all-purpose lens for me. The only other hole is my arsenal is a nice portrait lens, a 50mm. I’m not sure if I can justify the expenses yet, as it would eat the money from my next two shoots, and then some most likely. So I seriously need to think about it. I can’t wait to have a home where I’ll have room to set up a small studio and actually have some accessories (like backdrops, reflectors, etc.).

My newest post is up at Ask Patty. Yes, I’ll probably mention it a few more times, because I’m just so darn excited about it. Just skip it if you don’t care – I understand if you don’t like to see links to every gig. I’ll need to just put a link in the sidebar. But if there’s something I’m especially proud of, I will probably tell you. Because I want to share.  cheese

Buddy is getting bigger and more active. I swear I think he’s dancing or spazzing out sometimes. This really is the most bizarre feeling I’ve ever experienced. It’s pretty cool to watch my belly wiggle from the movements, but I wonder what the hell is going on in there. I think he’s had the hiccups a couple of times. That’s amusing for a minute or so. He really gets moving around 2 in the afternoon every day, and around 11 at night. I wonder if he’ll decide to make his appearance during one of those time spans? If he does, I surely hope it’s the afternoon. Heh. Sometimes it’s hard to let go and realize that my body’s not my own right now. Because if it was, I’d stop the urge to pee every half hour. That’s really getting old, kiddo. Stop the punches to the bladder, okay? And it’s like he knows when I put daddy’s hand on my belly, though, because he immediately stops moving, even when he was kicking up his heels just a second before. And daddy is too impatient to sit there and wait for it. Men!

Consider this my randomness from the day. How you doin’?

the geek in me is disappointed

We went by the apple store yesterday, both to avoid the heat and look around. It was the first time I haven’t seen every iPhone taken up by curious customers, so I finally picked one up. I played with it for about 2 minutes before putting it down. I tried the little keyboard and was immediately turned off. I don’t see how anyone can use it. It’s nearly impossible if you have fingernails, and mine aren’t even that long. What about guys with big hands? I know my husband wouldn’t be able to use it at all. I couldn’t even tap with my fingernails.

That’s too bad, because I think it’s a really great phone. But if I couldn’t use it to send text messages or type in a web address? What’s the point? Apple, this is the first time you’ve disappointed me in quite a while.

But you’re about to again, if you don’t bring out a 12” or 13” MacBook Pro. My PowerBook G4 is starting to give me problems. I hope they’re only temporary. But if they’re not, I really don’t want to go up to the 15”. I like this size, I truly do. Please, give us a smaller Pro. I can’t use the MacBook – it’s not powerful enough to run Aperture, Creative Suite, and all the other applications I need. I hope you remedy this soon, Apple.
