1. What did you do in 2004 that you’d never done before?
married john, went to my grandma’s funeral, drove home for the holidays.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i don’t do resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
two girls at work, y, and numerous cousins (i’m not kidding when i say numerous – my dad’s family is HUGE). my ovaries are doing backflips as i type.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
my grandmother on my mom’s side, my great aunt, and a cousin on my dad’s side that i hadn’t seen in a while but was fond of as a child.
5. What countries did you visit?
just the good ole u.s. i didn’t even get down to mexico this year.
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
savings. a thriving freelance writing business. a new digital camera. more time to write for me.
7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
feb 29, 2004 – my wedding
sept 10, 2004 – grandma died
dec 24, 2004 – i met my great-niece
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
besides settling down and actually marrying the big lug? (i was the delay, i think. you could probably call me skittish, but i think that name is taken. heh.)
finally figuring out what i want, for real.
9. What was your biggest failure?
the year’s not over yet – there’s still time.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
just a really nasty cold that knocked me on my ass for several days.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
my car. definitely my car.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
j – he willingly took up the ball & chain.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed or disgusted?
politicians. all of ‘em.
14. Where did most of your money go?
mostly bills, with a little fun stuff thrown in.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
going home to see family during the holidays. i really needed that both mentally and physically.
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
hey ya – sitting in best friend’s car, all of us jamming to the song, bouncing around in the vehicle

a) happier or sadder? happier
b) thinner or fatter? thinner
c) richer or poorer? richer, but only by a hair because we didn’t buy a lot of christmas stuff this time around.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
writing for fun.

writing for school, taking the little things so seriously.
20. How will you be spending New Year’s Eve?
probably at home with my honey

every day

good eats – i really don’t watch tv
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
most definitely i have very strong feelings of dislike and malcontentment.

to kill a mockingbird – i read it for the first time.

my car – i really needed it.
28. What did you want and not get?
a new digital camera – but cost is involved here (do i want to buy the camera or put that money in the moving fund?).

did i even go to the movies this year? where am i? i can’t tell you, obviously.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
i was 31 and we were low-key as normal. had a belated party when hubby could get off of work.
31.What one thing would have made your year measurably more satisfying?
more money? i don’t really know – maybe feeling like i had done better about helping people in need. i didn’t do enough.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
more taylored and less slouchy than previous years. and in smaller sizes. hee!
33. What kept you sane?
my husband and family (of course they also pushed me to the brink…but at least they kept me from going over).

hugh jackman. rawr!

prez election

don’t sweat the small stuff. and it’s all small stuff. hug your family close, see them as often as you can and don’t take the worthwhile ones for granted. not all family members are worthwhile.
